Free Crochet Pattern for Baby Blanket – Arianna Baby Blanket

I designed this blanket for Arianna, when she was born.  It’s a very easy blanket with repetitive stitch.  Originally I was not planning on writing up a pattern for it, but I’ve been asked a few times to make it available. So here you go!  A special thank you to Christine for nagging me long enough ;)!

How on earth do get this pattern?

  3. Brenda Rogers

This is a lovely pattern. I like this stitch. Question: Did you fasten off between color changes? Or did you carry the yarn up?

    1. Anastasia

      Hi Brenda,

      great question.

I usually carry unused yarn up and then hide yarn floats with a row of single crochet.

      Thank you,

      Anastasia.

I enjoyed making this blanket but could not figure out how to do a hat in the pattern…any suggestions?

    1. Anastasia

      Hi Sheron,

do you mean that you would like to make a hat that uses this stitch pattern?

Theoretically, make a crown in any stitch of your choice (sc, hdc, or dc) with last row of crown been multiple of 4 stitches. Then (with minor tweaking), work 1st row of blanket.

Or you can just make a square hat and gather stitches at the top for a crown.

      Hope it helps,

      Anastasia.

What is the finished size of this beautiful blanket? I want to make this for my granddaughter who will be born in February!

    1. Anastasia

      Hi Betty,

the size of the blanket will depend on your gauge. I don’t have the blanket in front of me, but it is around the size of the crib. Arianna is 3 years old now still loves her blanket. Hope your granddaughter will love hers too.

What do Cluster in each ch-2-sp mean for row 2?

    1. Dan Thompson

That just means to make your 2dc, ch2, sc in each ch2 space of the previous row. A cluster consists of (2dc, ch2, sc).

Also, this pattern doesn’t really need a border because it makes its own as you go. You’ll see what I mean after you work several rows.

I belong to a prayer shawl group. One member of our group made a lap robe using your pattern and we all fell in love with it. Many of us are making the pattern now because it is not hard and it looks beautiful when done. I am going to make one now. Thank you for sharing with us.

Hi.I am having much difficulty figuring out how to stitch row 2, ‘cluster in each ch-2- sp (middle of cluster from a previous row) across . So does that mean I start my dc stitch on the very top of each cluster? Or does it mean I have to do a cluster in every 2nd ch from the previous row? ?

What an amazingly beautiful pattern! I stumbled across this searching for a light and airy blanket pattern for an afghan that I am making for a friend. I LOVE IT!! I plan on using it for preemie blankets that we are donating to a local NICU as well. Thank you so much for sharing this!

    Hi Anastasia,

I am expecting my first granddaughter on July 23! I have been looking at many crochet patterns and couldn’t decide until I saw your lovely baby blanket. Is this a pattern for beginner to moderate? I bought some yarns and they call for a 4mm hook.

    Thanks,

  11. Mary

I am almost finished with your beautiful baby blanket, the mother chose mint green, light pink and light grey. I think she will love it and the matching hat I am making tomorrow. Thank you for this lovely pattern.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for choosing one of my patterns! That color combo sounds beautiful!
