They are here!!!

Yeah!!!  It’s here!! The new issue of Tangled, Fall 2011 is here!!! Yeah!!!!  I have two pattern in it!!  Yeah!!! I have two sweater patterns in it!!!  Double yeah!!! My first published sweater pattern (two) in adult sizes. Quadruple yeah!!

This is extremely exciting!!!!

Emma cardigan was published in the category of “As seen on screen”. It was inspired by the character in Glee, Emma Pillsbury. It’s worked from the bottom, seamlessly with fun small cables. Very slimming, very elegant construction and texture.

I want to say a giant thank you to a wonderful sample crocheter, Peggy, maggyruth on Ravelry, this sweater would not be possible without her.

The importance of “save”

This post is brought to you from a corner where I am sobbing and crying.

Why am I in the corner sobbing and crying, and cursing, don’t forget cursing, you ask?

Because I am not computer challenged at all, I just don’t remember that freaking blue little “save” button exists. That’s why!

I’ve spend 3 hours working on a new software while creating a new diagram  for a super awesome new design for my equally awesome “design collection”. Then, in a blink of an eye it shut down and took my super awesome complex diagram of 30 rows with it. When first signs of shock wore off, the software that should not be named (yeah, yeah, I know, it’s my fault, try to stop me from blaming the software, and loose your yarn stush in the process) was restarted and the chart was not there! Praying to fiber gods did not help, neither did the tech gods, they are useless.

I am gonna go back into my corner, wish me luck tomorrow.

Story of a sweater

Once upon a time, there was a young girl who loved to knit. She knitted every single sweater pattern and every single gram of wool she could get her hands on. She knitted for the whole family. She knitted for her mom and her sister. Then she got a baby niece and she had two boys of her own, and she knitted for them. For years, she always had something on her needles. One day she made this sweater, the sweater.

That young knitted enthusiast is my aunt – Olga, and that cute little thing is ME.  (say it with me awwww).

Time past, young girl slowly parted from knitting. Priorities and interests changed. Fashion changed, the sweater was packed for storage.

Years passed, the niece grew, and one day the sweater was rediscovered. The niece loved it so much that she wore it everywhere. One day she wore it while visiting her little god daughter, and this picture was taken.  The sweater lives on…

Tangled

Today, I saw a preview for my two sweaters that are coming out in the next few days (hopefully) in Fall issue of Tangled.  And they look AWEEEESOOOOOME!!! and that’s all I have to say without spilling too much.  Stay tuned…

I clicked publish and it occurred to me that I have not shared my first sock pattern, the first pattern that was published by Tangled.  They are worked in absolutely awesome merino/bamboo/silk yarn blend made by Crystal Palace.  Oh, and the yarn company featured this pattern in their newsletter, woo hoo.

Bon Jovi (yes, that’s the name of those sock, how cool is that?!), is worked from toes up with after through heel.  The yarn is thin, the hook is thin, so the socks comes out very comfortable.  And I’ve been told it does not look crochet (which supposed to be a good thing, go figure).

Fiber Group – Meh – Previews

Today I was planning on going to my favorite knit and crochet group.  Hands down the nicest and most friendliest crafters people in NJ.  Most of them are knitters, but there is a large group of crocheters, or crocheters who has to knit because there is enough nice cool crochet pattern out there.  Do I need to say that I am working very hard of fixing that?  So the group is called Skein Mavens and it’s part of Stitch and Bitch of NJ’s Princeton and Trenton area.  The best way to get in touch with them and see schedule of upcoming meet ups is through their Ravelry group page.

I am kind of sick (if you ask me the whole day today I felt sick as a dog, but I tend to exaggerated and been on the drugs for the past day, so don’t listen to me), feeling meh (it’s a medical term), so I’ve decided not to share my germs with anyone and go home.  Besides Miley the cat is very lonely (and not very trustworthy).  I am having my comfort sick food for dinner: tomato sauce with mushrooms (premade), cheese and pasta.  Exactly in that order.  The same way as I prefer strawberry with yogurt, milk with coffee (just ask my coworkers) and cheese with mac (Alena, I am totally stealing this one).

The other day part of the submission to one-skein crochet wonders book.  I’ve submitted five, two came back with a very nice note, will know about the other ones later.  Usually submissions are a sketch, swatch and a short description.  This time the submission consisted of the fully written pattern and the finished sample.  So, I am actually excited that those 2 came back, because now I can self-publish them, just need to tech edit the pattern and take some awesome pictures.  Hopefully, weather will cooperate.

Both of them are made in an incredible hand dyed supersoft superwash yarn – Miss Babs Yowza-Whatta Skein!  Do you know why it’s called that? Because it’s 8 oz, 560 yards of worsted yarnie goodness.

I picked yarn for the orange one last year at Stitches East.  It’s called Ann and Aliya after two wonderful ladies, mother-daughter team, who crocheted this beautiful sample for me.

Life’s little moments

I want to leave you with this quote today: “Laugh when you can, apologize when you should, and let go of what you can’t change. Kiss slowly, forgive quickly, play hard, take changes, give everything, and have no regrets. Life is too short to be anything but happy”.

I tried to search for the author unsuccessfully.

Enjoy life’s little moments!  Let go of regrets, forgive and forget the things that don’t matter, kiss you other half tonight and mean every second of it, hug your baby for the extra minute,enjoy life!

Fail. Almost.

I came very close to failing at NaBloPoMo, but I have about 10 minutes before it happens.

I was driving back home from a class tonight and was planning a post for tonight about how awesome my new class was! Today was a first class of an intermediate beginner crochet class that I am teaching at the West Windsor Art Center. Almost all of the ladies from my beginner class signed up to the continuation, which I was very trilled about. They like me, oooohhh. Or they just like the way I teach, which is still, oooohhh. They are all doing great by the way. We started on a “No gauge any yarn any size hat”, and they are absolutely loving the technique! Again, trilled!!!

As soon as I got home I’ve been swatching like crazy. For some reason I got so inspired, I’ve been trying to come up with some ideas the while weekend, and they very pretty good, but they were not the “master pieces”.  And right now I think I got it, at midnight, swatching in bed, almost fail posting.  Why does great ideas come in a bad/bed time??
