Perfect Weather for Crocheting

I guess the weather forecast was right this time.  It’s been snowing like crazy and I already went two times outside to dig out my car from under the snow.

On the crochet side of today, I almost finished my new crochet design – zebra.  I ran out of black yarn two weeks ago and have been hunting for it at AC Moore since, unsuccessfully.  Ann was very kind and gave me two balls of it, yeah!! Thank you, Ann.  So today I sat down to finish the rest of the body and I realized I do not have my good stuffing.  I have stuffing I do not like to use for toys, it clamps up, and makes everything very stiff,  I prefer to use it for other things, like crochet balls.  I think I left my good stuffing at Maksim’s because I was planning to finish zebra there.  Ohh, well, next week it should be done.  As of now my zebra looks like that:

I was in crocheting stuffed animals mood, so I started making elephant.  I had the idea few month back and even made a sketch:

So far it looks like this:

I LOVE how the legs of your elephant are an actual part of the body instead of being stitched onto it. Not only does it mean you have to stitch less together (my least favorite part), but it also means the toy is safe for a baby! I’m searching for animal patterns like that, but haven’t found many.

Thanks Amanda :). Sewing is my least favorite part too. Actually most of my toys require very minimal sewing. Even when limbs are made separatelly, they will be attached as body is worked. Sometimes ears and tail is attached the same way. So no sewing 🙂 I promise. Creating toys that are safe is my priority :).
