I present to you a new pattern.  This a first pattern in a series of my attempts to publish one pattern a week.   Enjoy!!!

Blueberry Beanie

This pattern has not been tech edited.  If you find any mistakes please let me know so I can correct them ASAP.

Sizes: newborn (3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months, 12-24 months, toddler).
Head circumference: 13-14 (14-15, 15-16, 16-17, 17-18, 17½-19) inches.

Finished measurements:
Hat circumference: 12 ½ (13 ½, 14 ½, 15 ½, 16 ½, 17 1/3) inches
Hat length: 4 ¾ (5, 5 ½, 6, 6 ½, 7) inches

Note: Pattern is written for smaller size with changes for larger sizes in parenthesis.

Yarn:any worsted yarn, hat in the picture was made using Loops & Threads Impeccable (100% acrylic; 4.5 oz/128 g/268 yds/245 m) 1 skein in Royal
Small amount in green and brown

Hook: US H8/5.00 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge: 13 sc and 15.5 rows to 4 inches

Notions: yarn needle, stitch marker

Pattern notes:
•     The hat is worked in continues rounds without joining from the top of the hat down.
•     Use stitch marker to keep track of rounds. Place a stitch marker in a last stitch of a row. When the stitch marker is reached, remove it, work specified stitches and replace the stitch marker.

Crown

Rnd 1:With A, make an adjustable ring*, ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), work 6 sc in the ring. Pull tail to tighten the ring.
Note: *instead of adjustable ring and ch 1, make ch 2 and work 6 sc in the first ch
Rnd 2:2 sc in each st around – 12 sc.
Rnd 3:[1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 6 times – 18 sc.
Rnd 4:[1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times – 24 sc.
Rnd 5: [1 sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times – 30 sc.
Rnd 6: [1 sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times – 36 sc.
Rnd 7:[1 sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times – 42 sc.

For newborn size only, skip to sides.

For 3-6 month size only: Rnd 8:[1 sc in next 13 st, 2 sc in next st] 3 times – 45 sc.  Skip to sides.

Rnd 8:[1 sc in next 6 st, 2 sc in next st] 6 times – 48 sc.

For 6-9 months size only, skip to sides.

For 9-12 month size only: Rnd 9:[1 sc in next 15 st, 2 sc in next st] 3 times – 51 sc.  Skip to sides.

Rnd 9:[1 sc in next 7 st, 2 sc in next st] 6 times – 54 sc.

For 12-24 month size only, skip to sides.

For toddler size only: Rnd 10:[1 sc in next 17 sc, 2 sc in next st) 3 times – 57 sc.

Sides

Rnd 1: sc in each st around – 42 (45, 48, 51, 54, 57) sc.

Repeat Rnd 1 until the piece measures 4 ¾ (5, 5 ½, 6, 6 ½, 7) inches from the top of the hat.

Stick:

With brown, ch 10, work 1 sl st in 3rd ch from hook and each ch across (8 sl st). Fasten off.

Leaf:

With green, ch 10. Work 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook and next 2 ch, 1 hdc in next 2 ch, 1 sc in next 2 ch; 2 sl st in the last ch.  Working on the opposite side of the foundation chain, make 1 sc in next 2 ch (2nd and 3rd ch from the beginning of the foundation chain), 1 hdc in next 2 ch, 1 dc in next 2 ch, 3 dc in next ch, sl st to the last ch on the foundation chain.  Fasten off.

Finishing:

Attach stick and leaf to the top of the hat.  Roll the edge of the hat.
