Projects I am working on

Classes posts aside, I have not been posting lately.  And I do apologize for that.  But I do have an explanation, really, I do, I promise!  I have been crocheting a lot, surprise there…  Some things I cannot post yet because…(drum roll)… I have submitted my designs to a magazine! YEAH!   Sorry sorry sorry cannot name the magazine, cannot name projects, cannot really say anything.  All I can say is that I submitted total of 6 projects.  Now I just have to sit and wait, and may crochet some more, definitely crochet some more!

What else?  Maksim’s (bf’s) niece just turned 8 and received her very own CELL PHONE for her birthday.  Her father, big fan of my creativity, asked me to make a cellphone case for her, which I did.   AS you can see from the pictures she realli likes it.  Bunny case came out very soft and cozy.  011
I also have been working on the website.  As you probably notice  there is no more shopping cart, or patterns what so ever, not even pictures!  It turns out the shopping cart I was using had tons of bugs,  and one day just stopped working.  So I am trying to figure out a way to make it work.  I am definitely going to have patterns, so no worries there.

About Last Night Class

The class was wonderful!!!  Thank you Ann, Denine and Rochelle for coming!!!!

So what did we work on?

Ann finished her pair of Easy Socks!  Congratulations!!!  I am so very proud of you :).  It has not been the easiest project in the sense that most of e projects before were completed in worsted or bulky weight yarn.  The sock ( of course) is in a sock weight yarn.  It was a learning experience, and she did a very good job! Ann, are you ready to make more socks as gifts?

Denine was working on a child’s brim hat for her friend’s daughters.  The hat is designed to be with a brim (thus the name), but she is considering not to do the brim, but instead finish off the hat with a row of a crab stitch (reverse single crochet).  The crown of the first hat -hardest part- is done, you are on the right track, just keep it going :).

It was a very first crochet class for Rochelle.  She just learned how to knit, so crocheting was very easy for her.  We have decided (meaning I decided) that she should hold the yarn exactly the same way as in knitting.  I chained approximately 15 and started three rows of single crochet for her, showed her how to work sc and off she went.  She was very quick and stitches were very even.

Many people get intimidated by increases and decreases, so the very first project I have all  my new students make is a crochet ball.  Very small fast going project to learn increases, decreases, counting stitches, moving a stitch marker, and learning how to read a pattern.  How much else can you ask from a project completed in less than an hour?  Rochelle did a very good job in making this ball!!!  Just stuff and sew it.

All in all the class was great!

Last Minute Gift

Most normal people make something small for a last minute gift.  Something like a bag, a hat, or a pair of booties.  I do not like making afghans.  I have not made one before.  Several baby blanket came from under my hook, but never a regular size afghan.

Who in their right mind will make an afghan with several hour before the gift giving? Me, that’s who!

The party was scheduled to 6pm Saturday.  So after I got up Saturday morning, I started searching for a pattern.  Just googling “fast afghan” gave me an idea to make 4 1/2 hour afghan from lion brand website.  So around 11am I went to Michaels and got 12 skeins of Homespun yarn and Q hook.  I started right after I got home from the store.  The pattern calls to chain 64,  it seamed to short to me, so I chained 75.   Four hour later and 6 skeins if process, I realized that 75 chains is a little to much, especially because the afghan was stretching quit a bit while I worked.  I finished on row 75 as pattern called for, but if I had more time I would of added 10 more rows.  I finished with one row of single crochet with 9mm hook.

End result: check the picture :).

Yarn: 4 skeins rococo, 4 skeins barley – the afghan is worked with two strands of yarn holding together.

About tonight's class

Tonight’s class was wonderful.  It was just few of us, so we got a chance not just to talk, but to work extensively on our projects.  Ann and Lori,  thank you for coming.

If you did not come tonight, start kicking yourself and biting your nails.  Are you doing it yet?  Start! Because I have something REALLY BIG to share with you, really BIG, actually something little and cute!   Remember Peggy? Yeah, you were asking about how she was doing, aha, remember?? SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO   She came tonight :D. She came with her little girl to say HI.  OMG, this was very wonderful to see them.  Miss H is very very adorable toddler.  It was such a treat to see them.  You missed it ;).  Still kicking?
