Cesar Millan book signing

So where I was yesterday? Yes Yes Yes I was at Cesar Millan book signing!!! At our favorite mall – Market Fair, at our favorite store – Barnes and Nobel, there he was, sitting ans signing books. Originally the ad said that there would be demonstrations, so I was very excited to come. Then it turns out that it is only going to be a book signing. The line was huge, about 200-250 people. I started at William’s Sonoma. If you know Market Fair mall it is pretty far. After two hours of chatting with other fans, finally there he was, sitting, smiling and signing books! OMG! It was so exciting, slightly nerve braking, and so worth the wait!!

Crochet Class October 7, 2009

I am working on… COW

After I came up with this cow, very few people thought that was a cow. According to the polls, 95% adults and kids said it was a pig.

The main argument was of course the pink face. My boyfriends 7-year-old niece said that cows are white with black spots. So here it is.

I still like the pink one!

I got inspired – Scarf

At the last class, Sep 30, the question of a scarf pattern came up.  Christine wanted to make a scarf in a beautiful grey/black wool yarn.  After swatching the pattern she had, it turns out that it was not open enough, and looked like something she would have to wear at -30 degrees (her words ;)), which she did not have in mind.  So we started brainstorming…  I offered the very easy pattern, consisted of double crochet stitches, and finishing it up with some fancy stitch around.  Probably too easy.

So I started swatching variations of shell stitches – simple and tasteful.  Christine really liked a pattern of just shells next row on top of the previous.  I wrote up a  pattern for her right on the spot for 4 columns of shells.  Let see what she will have done for next time ;).

I personally liked the other pattern, with double crochet in between the rows of shell.  When I got home I found in my stash alpaca yarn (so good, so soft, LOVE IT),  so I made this.

I am back

Hello everyone, I have not forgotten about you, I just had some problems with my Internet.  As some of you know I got a new job as analytical chemist (yeah, no connection to crocheting what so ever :D) and I moved to be closer to work.  Couple of days ago I actually got someone to come in and install my precious connection to the world- Internet.  So here I am.

So what have I been doing lately?  I have been getting ready for craft shows.   I was invited to two shows, one this Saturday and the other one in October.   Can you imagine I was actually invited, woo-hoo!!!  I am so excited.  The first show is going to be at Pennington Marker.  I am going to have a table to sell my crochet creations, and I will also have a table so we can chat and crochet.  You are all invited to join me :), just bring a chair, some crochet project and a smile.   It is this Saturday, September 26 at the Pennington Shopping Center at 25 Route 31 in Pennington Borough.  This is the parking lot of the Pennington Market, where Delaware Avenue meets Route 31.  I am going to be there from 9am to 3pm, so you can come at any time in between.

As I was saying I am getting ready for the shows.  I have been crocheting like crazy, making tons of different hats, scarfs, bags, toys.   Designing, printing and attaching labels… You are probably wondering what is it on the pictures. So on the table you see most of my new designs. The hats are stacked by sizes because it is easier to attach labels this way.

And YES we are going to have a class tonight, hope to see you there.

Royal Blue Chenille Hat

I got Chenille thick and quick yarn a while ago. I just loved amazingly beautiful royal blue color. Originally I was planning to make a Teddy Bear out of it.  Yesterday I finally got my hands on it.  Because the yarn is thick (surprise there! lol) and fluffy, stitches do not come close enough to use stuffing and if I use a smaller hook it just come out very stiff, definitely not a bear material. So I just started playing with it. Looky at that hat! It is simple and very fast, but I absolutely love it.  I just ran outside to take a picture!
